Real Livin’
A marriage proposal motivated by fear
Low self esteem had me so insecure
After just a couple of years
My eyesight became clear
The marriage began falling apart
He began getting high with friends at the bar
Drinking and using drugs was his method to cope
I didn’t really enjoy feeling like a dope
He began cheating and dishonoring the vows
I wouldn’t give up, did everythin’ within my pow’r
As the loving and submissive wife
Thought by followin’ him I was doin’ right
Too many holidays had been missed
Somethin’ inside me said, “I can no longer live like this.”
Givin’ up the very last snort
Never busted, never had a day in court
Designated parking was in the garage side, south
Temptation came by the familiar taste in my mouth.
The voice inside me sayin’ this was no kind of existence
There’s somethin’ better, hold onto to this truthfulness.
He didn’t want to give up the sex and drug playin’
I made the decision to follow Jesus, and begin real livin’.
